Land Use Updates

There has been a lot happening in our neighborhood over the summer. Here are a few highlights.

There have been three recent public meetings regarding significant developments in our neighborhood.
  • There is a 32-unit subdivision planned on the east side of 27th south of Capella Place. Access from 27th will be via Capella.
  • A parcel with 19 townhouses on a property that is a little over an acre in size is planned on the east side of Daly Estates. This is likely the first phase of a 133-unit townhouse development in this area.
  • A storage unit and sixteen townhouses or condos are planned for the land on the northeast corner of Bear Creek and 27th. A hotel just north of this property is currently under construction.

There have been some issues brought before the planning commission and City Council related to our neighborhood as well; the Bend central District and Core Area urban development is still in the planning stages. Les Schwab is considering relocating as a part of that development and on September 18 City Council is having a hearing to consider their request to get the property they want to develop on 3rd Street removed from the Bend Central district regulations.

The Planning Commission is deliberating on a number of code changes designed to streamline the development permitting process and correct sections of the code to make them in alignment with recent statewide code changes. Many of the changes are related to accessory dwelling units, parking, and manufactured homes. The meeting is scheduled for September 23.
